Our First Home : Favorite Views
Now that we’ve been in our new house for nearly a year, our first home on Glacier Drive is starting to feel more and more distant. If you moved houses a few times as a kid, like myself, you often have blurry memories of the places you called home. Anna will never have memories of the place she first called home so I made sure to save the photos we received from our realtor of our house as well as others I snapped through the years.
I put together a collection of some of my favorite views. Every place we’ll live will feel special but there’s something about this first house of ours … the neighborhood … all the memories made … that will always, always remain with us. We were lucky to make it our home for eight years.
Kitchen
The soapstone countertops and subway tile we had installed always made me happy when I walked in the kitchen.

One of my favorite views … the view when you entered from the garage, the kitchen welcoming you home. The sun would stream in in the afternoons, similar to this shot, which was always so nice.
These cheap antique graters of mine didn’t have a place to go in our new house … such a shame!
Another view of the kitchen. We got new appliances shortly before moving (due to our fridge dying) … we didn’t get to enjoy them much, unfortunately!
Spent many gatherings with friends and family around the kitchen table. The table came with us, of course, but looking at it in this space gives me all the feels! Note: these were the new paint colors.
Living Room
When we first moved in, we painted the kitchen and living room. I wanted a bold but still neutral accent wall (the wall that ran the length of the entire house, from the living room to the kitchen). I always loved the boldness of it. We painted these rooms lighter colors before we moved to keep up with the trends, but I was sad to see this wall color go!

We spent many hours in this area … on the couch, watching TV, especially since Anna arrived!
Anna’s Room
One of the most special rooms in the house … Anna’s nursery. Although her room now has all the same furniture and most of the same decorations … it feels different. Maybe because she was already on her way to becoming a little girl when we moved in as opposed to a newborn. Seeing these photos take me back to preparing for the arrival of our baby!
We had lifestyle newborn photos taken in her nursery so I will always cherish those!
Guest Bedroom & Bath
Loved the big basement windows to give us lots of natural light!
We painted this accent wall and the others shortly after finishing this headboard. When we put it up to the tan wall, it was about the same color. Oops!
This guest bath had some love poured into it. I repainted it (3 coats since I didn’t like the first color I selected!) and searched for quite some time for the perfect mirror. I was really pleased with the updates made!
This cute little shelf didn’t work in the new house so ended up selling it (very quickly) on Facebook Marketplace. Just had to show this little display I had in the bathroom. All those vintage items made me happy!
Upstairs Bathroom
Another labor of love here. This bathroom was painted twice. Yes, twice. The first shade of green I used never felt right. But, I lived with it for a few years before finally finding the right color. I loved having the pop of color in this bathroom. Anna took her baths first here!
Basement Living Room
This is the place where I let my love for antiques run wild.

Master Bedroom & Bath
Anna’s room is the door you’ll see through our door. Nice and close for those middle-of-the-night wake-ups!
Recently updated the images in the frames above the bed. I loved this bedspread but decided to freshen it up with the new home.
Always loved the natural light that came with this window. More than our new bathroom!
We don’t have a tub in the new house which is somewhat a bummer. Although, we never used ours much, it certainly was needed post-baby!
Exterior
We painted the front door red during our time in this home. It was the same color of the exterior siding so the red definitely gave us the “pop” we needed! Ryan misses his basketball hoop!
I miss the porch and hanging baskets. I used to display. Such a nice area to hang out when the sun was beating down on the deck!
Look at that green lawn! No Photoshopping done! We loved the birch tree we added a few years in.
The landscaping we did that included Dogwoods, Day Lillies, evergreens and tall grasses. A great way to add privacy without putting up a fence. The current owners added a fence … we’re really sad about it!
