A trip to Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.

For our one-year anniversary, we decided we wanted to go on a little weekend trip. It was a three-day holiday weekend after all, and we had a reason to celebrate! We talked about a couple destinations and landed on Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. Why Chippewa Falls you may wonder. Well, it was all about the beer. Chippewa Falls is a city with a population of 13,661 located on the Chippewa River. It is also the home of the Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company. The craft brewery was established in 1867 by German immigrant Jacob Leinenkugel. The brewery is owned by Miller Brewing Company but is still run by fifth-generation descendants of Jacob. As you probably know, Leinie's is the producer of the uber popular Summer Shandy fruit beer. I still remember the first time I was introduced to the lemonadey goodness a few years back. I've been in love ever since. So, needless to say, it was pretty neat to take a tour of the facility where it is made and drink some samples at the super cool Leinie's Lodge.

After spending a few hours at the brewery, we ventured to the next logical location, a winery. Hehe! The wine was good, the company even better. We asked the helpful staff there for a restaurant recommendation for dinner. He recommended Duncan Creek Wine Bar and Grille in downtown Chippewa. It did not disappoint. The menu had a lot of options, but I stayed in familiar territory and ordered the New York strip. It was topped with local blue cheese and caramelized onions and was cooked to perfection. The flavors were awesome! Even though it was so yummy, I was nice and shared a little with Ryan!

If you are looking for a quaint weekend getaway, I'd recommend Chippewa Falls to anyone! It was a great way to spend our first anniversary. Cheers to that!
