Our Wedding Day

Two years ago, today, Ryan and I were saying our "I do's". Our special day came before the creation of Our Happy Happenings so I thought I'd dedicate this post to looking back upon the start of our lives together as a married couple. Our wedding was at the church we both grew up attending, St. Mary's Catholic Church. Everyone who has ever been to our church raves about how beautiful it is. And, they are right. It really is beautiful and was the perfect setting for our wedding ceremony. The reception was at Remsen's only wedding venue, the Avalon Ballroom. The ballroom opened its doors in 1937 and has been the place for many, many celebrations. Without going into all the details and emotions of the day, I'll simply summarize the day as a day that was completely us. It wasn't fancy or elegant. But it wasn't cheap or underwhelming either. It was right in between ... which is a lot like us. One of my favorite things about a wedding is that it goes beyond being a celebration of the love between the couple; it is a celebration of the love found within families and among friends. We are fortunate to say that we were surrounded by love on our wedding day.
